The stork,  a migratory bird,  is included in  Genus Ciconia of Family Ciconiidae  under Ciconiiformes.  The white stork  (Ciconia ciconia), great in number, also called oriental white stork,  migrates in spring to the northeastern part of China for propagation  and in late autumn for overwintering to the southern part of China such as to the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River and coastal areas.  The black stork  (Ciconia nigra),  few in number, according to seasons lives in northeastern part of China, north China, southwestern part of China and southeastern coastal areas of China. 
The white stork and black stork  have been listed  as  the first-grade wild animals protected by the state.
