Chinese Alligator (Alligator sinensis)

The Chinese alligator is a national first-grade wild fauna for protection, distributed  in some areas  along the middle and lower reaches of  the Yangtze River  with  only  several hundred  individuals  in the wild. In order to save this species,  China has established a Chinese Alligator Propagation  and  Research  Centre  in  Anhui Province,  and  also a nature reserve for the conservation of the Chinese alligator occupying 440 square kilometers  of  land.  The  propagated  population of  the Chinese alligator has exceeded 4,000. 
The Chinese alligator belongs to the Family Alligatoridae in the Order Crocodilia.
